Boers-Li Gallery: Summer 2008 News

As the Beijing art season begins in earnest, the artists of Boers-Li Gallery have been invited to participate in a series of high-profile international exhibitions, as well as the best of local and domestic art programming.

In our own project space in Caochangdi, we will be opening a Liang Yuanwei solo show on 31 May. The exhibition will run to 13 July.

Liang Yuanwei¡¯s work is also currently featured in an exhibition of work from the Uli Sigg collection in the Joan Miro Foundation in Barcelona. Entitled Red Aside, the show closes on 25 May. She also participated in Asking for It, a group exhibition in the Mackintosh Gallery at the Glasgow School of Art that runs until 10 May.

The 39th annual iteration of Art Basel, held in Switzerland from 4-8 June, will see Song Kun and Qiu Xiaofei present new installation work in the Art Premier section of the fair.

A catalogue showcasing Qiu Xiaofei¡¯s recent work will also be published to coincide with the opening of Basel.

Also at Art Basel, Qiu Anxiong has been invited to present his project Staring into Amnesia in the Art Unlimited section of the fair. The work promises to be a highlight of the show.

Qiu Anxiong has also been invited to participate in the Sydney Biennale with his innovative video practice. The exhibition will run from 18 June to 7 September.

Chen Shaoxiong will be showing his recent work at both the Liverpool Biennial, running from 20 September to 30 November, and the Gwangju Biennale, running from 5 September to 9 November.

A full-color catalogue of images and criticism on Liu Wei¡¯s work spanning the last two years has been published by Timezone 8 and Boers-Li Gallery, and is available now.

Liu Wei has also been invited to participate in the Guangzhou Triennial, running from 5 September to 16 November. As a recipient of the 2007 Chinese Contemporary Art Awards, his work will be showcased in an accompanying exhibition in the Ullens Center in Beijing in July and in 18 on the Bund in Shanghai in late August.

Zhang Peili, whose solo show will remain on view in our space at Boers-Li Gallery until May 24, will be featured in another solo exhibition in Shenzhen¡¯s Hexiangning Art Museum in September.

Finally, please remember that, as of June 2008, our organization will be exclusively referred to as Boers-Li Gallery, and the old moniker of UniversalStudios-beijing will be dropped.
